OCD, PDRF to boost disaster resilience

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) have forged an agreement to strengthen collaboration between public and private sectors in enhancing disaster resilience.

OCD administrator Ariel Nepomuceno underscored the importance of the partnership for building a robust disaster management framework, especially in matters like earthquake preparedness.

PDRF president Rene Meily emphasized the commitment of private companies to support the government in times of crisis.

PDRF executive director Veronica Gabaldon noted that effective collaboration can improve disaster risk management and save lives. Following the signing of the memorandum of agreement, the CORE-3Ps project was launched to develop a framework for private-sector engagement in resilience efforts.

Rebekah Eubanks of the United States Agency for International Development reaffirmed her government’s support for the initiative, while OCD director Caesar Agnir Jr. committed to ensuring the partnership delivers tangible benefits through communication, training, and resource sharing to foster community preparedness.
