The Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation, in partnership with the Baguio City Government, convened the local stakeholders for the first consultation workshop for the development of the City’s Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Plan on 12-13 August 2026 at the Ridgewood Hotel in Baguio City. These workshops will directly shape the city’s Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Plan, its IWRM Catalogue, and the Private Sector Engagement (PSE) Roadmap Framework.
As the headwater for several critical watersheds, Baguio’s water management directly impacts the entire Metropolitan BLISST area (Baguio City, La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan, Tuba, and Tublay). With climate change intensifying extreme weather and threatening local water security, ecosystems, and public infrastructure, these unified frameworks will establish a strategic roadmap to guide disaster risk reduction and climate resilience initiatives across municipal borders.
The succeeding consultation rounds, scheduled over the coming months, will consolidate input from civil society, academia, and the business sector to finalize the roadmaps by the end of 2026.
Together, the new strategic plans will guide long-term disaster and climate resilience initiatives across the region.
Funded by the Global Affairs Canada, PDRF is implementing the BRIDGE Project to enhance the disaster and climate resilience of the cities of Antipolo and Baguio, by strengthening the integrated water resources management (IWRM) capacities of communities (Indigenous People and Local Communities, Women) and local institutions (Local Government, Private Sector, Civil Society Organizations); and applying gender-responsive practices.
